Field Deployment and Scale-up Of Volumetric Controlled Wankel Steam Expander for Use with Low-pressure Solar and Process Steam

Project Objectives:
To deploy four second-generation engines (Indian Institute of Technology Madras developed steam expander for solar steam and saturated steam applications).
Engine capable of delivering oil-free steam max. of 1 Ton per hour saturated steam flow rate and up to 17.5 bar inlet pressure.
A pressure ratio of 7 is to be achieved.
Volumetric control with turndown of 10 to 20% of design load.
Engine maximum power delivery of 40 kWe. 6. Isentropic efficiency of ~75-80% to be achieved with less than 10% of design variation
Development of a Solar Thermal Steam Based Sterilization System for Dental Tool Sterilization in Remote Areas

Objective:
Design, Fabrication and testing of a portable steam cylinder
Design, fabrication & testing(<6min) of a flash sterilization canister for use with the portable steam cylinder
Development of a optimized solar thermal steam generator that can centrally serve a few remote villages
Demonstration of the dental surgical instrument sterilization use in remote areas
